Miss Rakhee Nayar holds her main private practice in Northwich, at Circle Cheshire Clinic in Wincham. She is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon and Consultant Mohs Surgeon, and one of fewer than ten women in the UK dual-trained in both disciplines. For anyone in Northwich facing a skin cancer on the face, that combination is unusually convenient: the cancer is removed and the area rebuilt by the same consultant, in the same building, on the same day.

Most private Mohs patients in Cheshire travel a considerable distance for this kind of surgery. If you live in Northwich, it is on your doorstep.

Mohs surgery at Circle Cheshire, Wincham

Mohs micrographic surgery is the most precise way to remove a skin cancer. The tumour is taken out in thin layers, and each layer is mapped and examined under the microscope while you wait. Only when the margins are confirmed clear does the surgery stop. That approach gives the highest cure rates for basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma while removing the least possible healthy tissue, which matters enormously on the nose, eyelid, lip and ear.

Because Miss Nayar is also a plastic surgeon, the reconstruction is planned by the person who removed the cancer and knows exactly what has been taken.

Mole, cyst and skin lesion removal in Northwich

Not every lump or mark is a cancer, and most turn out not to be. Miss Nayar also removes benign lesions at the Northwich clinic, including moles, cysts, skin tags, lipomas and lesions on the lip. Because she is a plastic surgeon, the priority is always the neatest possible scar rather than simply getting the lesion out. See skin lesion removal for more.

Common questions

Do I need a GP referral? Not always for a private consultation, though if you are claiming on health insurance your insurer will usually ask for one. Bring any letters or biopsy results you already have.

How long will I be at the clinic? Plan for at least half a day. Mohs surgery involves waiting between stages while the tissue is processed and examined, and the number of stages depends on what the microscope shows.

Will I be asleep? No. Mohs surgery is done under local anaesthetic, which avoids the risks of a general anaesthetic and means you can usually go home the same day.

Nearby areas

Northwich is the clinic town itself, so most of Cheshire is within a short drive. There are separate pages for Knutsford, Wilmslow and Crewe.

I honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience with my recent Mohs surgery. The surgeon was absolutely spectacular, incredibly professional, skilled and reassuring. I felt completely confident and in safe hands throughout, and the care and attention given to me were exceptional. … A huge thank you to the surgeon, Miss Rakhee Nayar, and the entire team for looking after me so brilliantly. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to recommend them. Absolutely outstanding from start to finish.

I unreservedly recommend Miss Rakhee Nayar. She is an extraordinary and excellent Mohs and plastic surgeon. Miss Nayar recently removed a BCC from my nose tip and now, 2 months later, there is almost no visible sign of it being done. I’m sure that in a few more weeks all trace will have vanished. She and her team are utterly professional and competent but also disarmingly charming and sensitive. I’ve had a lot of operations and none have been handled so well from start to finish.

I'm so happy with the results of my Mohs surgery to have a BCC removed from the bridge of my nose. 6 mths later and you can't see a scar which i was worried about given the sensitive location between my eyes, and it needing quite a few stitches as it was deep routed. Miss Nayar explained everything thoroughly before, during and after my procedure. She was very friendly, professional and made me feel really at ease. I would totally recommend Miss Nayar to anyone looking to have Mohs surgery!

I cannot reccomend Miss Nayar highly enough. I have had a BCC removed from my nose by MOHS surgery. She took great care to explain every step of the procedure to me with great kindness and empathy. I only have very minimal scarring now. I received excellent care from Miss Nayar and all her team, all of whom were extremely kind, patient and professional. Communication via her fantastic secretary Lisa was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. Overall an excellent experience at a worrying time.
